"THE DIARY OF A MADMAN" FALL SEMESTER FINAL PROJECT |

 NIKOLAI VASILIEVICH GOGOL | 2020

In my design for the play "Bir Delinin Hatıra Defteri" (Diary of a Madman), I proceeded through two different realities. The first reality is the existing reality of the first period and life itself, which most of us encounter and experience. The second reality is the one constructed by Poprişçin in his own mind. In the play, Poprişçin is actually in the asylum from the very beginning, and he writes his diary while he is there.

I designed my project based on this perspective, allowing the audience to witness these two different realities and question the events from two different perspectives.

When we are confined within four walls, our freedom is limited only by our imagination. In the technique I used, considering the hologram screen as the fourth wall, we will witness the subconscious of an individual trapped within the boundaries of the asylum.
